Database compilation and standards

Forest fire and insect outbreak polygons on NTS and BCGS topographic base maps were table-digitized. Polygons on other base maps were scanned and registered to 1:250000 NTS base maps. Maps were joined to create provincial annual wildfire and forest insect coverages for each disturbance agent. Files were converted and are available as ArcInfo interchange files and ArcView shapefiles. All parameters follow provincial standards (e.g. Albers NAD83). The nominal scale of the data is 1:250 000.
